Not only in Nigeria do people report cases of domestic violence, it is like that in other parts of the world. A talented South African actress has just been battered by her lover.
It was recently reported that actress Londiwe Ngcamu was mercilessly beaten by her boyfriend following a romantic role she played in a stage play titled Seven Days War.
According to reports, the young lady was beaten beyond recognition after her boyfriend accused her of cheating on him for kissing another actor during the play. The director of the play Mvuselelo Buthelezi said he was shocked by Ngcamu’s attack.
Buthelezi added that on Sunday, January 27, he visited the actress at the hospital where she disclosed that, her boyfriend got angry because he thought she was in a relationship with her fellow cast. The director said: “I can’t believe this man didn’t know that Londiwe was just acting.”
It was also gathered that on Saturday, January 26, Ngcamu’s drunk boyfriend waited for her at the bus stop where he accused her of cheating on him. From there, he took her to his room and beat her mercilessly.
On Sunday morning, Ngcamu disclosed that she managed to elope from her boyfriend’s house after he fell asleep. She went straight home and her siblings rushed her to the hospital. The actress said: “When I got home my siblings called the police and they took me to hospital.”
According to the KZN police spokeswoman, Captain Nqobile Gwala, this is a case of assault and a file has been opened at the Mountain Rise Police station.
